The origins of the Bergamot tree are uncertain.
Most experts believe that it is mutant of other species.
All sorts of theories have been suggested as to the country of origin: China,
The Barbados, Greece, Spain, The Canary Island, but however the only place in world where the Bergamot tree bears fruits is in this small area of Calabria.
BERGAMOTTO I.G.P
THE GREEN GOLD OF CALABRIA
Bergamotto from the latin “Citrus Bergamia” is regarded the finest of the citrus family. It is similar to an orange in size, but with a green-yellow peel which is rich in essential oils.
Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto only uses I.G.P. Bergamot from a Unesco protected area in Calabria, a thin strip of coastline that runs from the Tyrrhenian coast to the shores of the Ionian Sea.
